Donovan Jackson


Donovan is a Partner and the Head of the firm’s Commercial Department. He joined the firm in 1994 having previously practiced in the Litigation and Conveyancing Departments of the law firm Myers, Fletcher and Gordon from 1983 to 1994.

He has wide experience in various areas of the law including, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, employment law and tax law and handles matters involving commercial litigation such as the enforcement of security documentation, commercial contracts, arbitration and conflict of laws. Donovan has represented a number of clients in the petroleum industry in Jamaica with respect to various aspects of their business operations and has worked on matters requiring legal advice involving securitization.

While a student at the Norman Manley Law School Donovan received the Sir Colin McGregor Memorial Prize in 1982 and the Keith Simmonds Memorial Prize in 1983. In 2000, he was the recipient of the President’s Award from the Jamaican Bar Association (JAMBAR). Donovan is a member of JAMBAR, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and the Royal Yacht Club. He is also a life member of the University of the West Indies Guild of Graduates and, as of 2000, a member of the International Who’s Who of Professionals.
